classes

  • Our signature style of reformer pilates focuses on full-body strength training and mobility. Classes are pilates-inspired with a modern twist, incorporating modern movement science and adhering to current global standards of exercise prescription.

We have a modern and progressive reformer pilates style, incorporating progressive overload and working in specific strength training rep ranges so you get the results you are after.

We work hard to ensure our pilates studio is a welcoming and inclusive environment where we love helping legends of all abilities. We have a damn good time, work hard but don’t take fitness too seriously, and are unapologetically ourselves.

  • We recommend 3 or 4 reformer pilates classes per week for regulars on alternate days, and 2 classes/week for entry level clients as they build their strength up to the open level classes. Our reformer pilates classes are programmed to be full body strength training, which requires a 48 hour recovery period between your next session to give your muscles the chance to recover and to get the most effective strength improvements.

Everybody is different, so it is important to do what feels good for you and what your body responds best to.

  • Our reformer pilates classes are 45 minutes long. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to class if you are a regular, and 10-15 minutes prior if it is your first time.

  • We have 10 legends in every Clutch reformer pilates class. The perfect class size to ensure you get the one on one attention required whilst maintaining a group fitness session and providing an affordable price point.

  • If you have been to the studio before, please arrive 5 minutes prior to class. If you are late, your spot may be given to someone on the waitlist.

If you are new to the Queenstown reformer pilates studio and reformer pilates in general, please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class so your trainer can familiarize you with the reformer, check your vaccination certificate, check in with any injuries and answer any burning questions you might have.

  • Please wear stretchy and comfortable clothing that allows you to move with ease. Socks are to be worn during the class for hygiene reasons. We recommend grippy socks so they do not feel slippery as you move on the reformer. These can be purchased in the studio prior to class if you wish.

We are an environmentally conscious studio and don’t provide plastic cups, so bring your own water bottle.

  • We sure do!

  • If you are injured in a way that affects your normal movement significantly, we recommend clearance from an allied health professional before commencing class.

If your injury is acute (red/hot/swollen) or recently post-op we also recommend clearance from a health professional before commencing class.

Chronic pain - associated with more long term injuries - usually responds very well to exercise and the global guidelines that we follow recommend maintaining as close to normal activity levels as possible.

Our trainers are experienced, trained by the best in the industry, and trained to work with a wide variety of injuries and pain conditions. Let your trainer know before class and they will look after you.

  • Congratulations! If you’ve been cleared to exercise by your doctor, you can absolutely join our group classes. Our highly trained teachers adhere to the current global standards of prenatal guidelines. All classes can be easily modified to support you, we want you to trust your body and only do what feels right on the day. BYO baby bump and let’s get you moving.

  • General exercise can be resumed after pregnancy however it should be done gradually because of the normal de-conditioning in the initial postpartum period. Generally, gradual exercise may begin 6 weeks after a vaginal delivery or 10 weeks after a cesarean section delivery. We require all members to receive medical clearance before returning or starting reformer pilates classes and ask that all post natal women attend a 1:1 session once cleared by their healthcare provider. In this session we aim to address any specific considerations or concerns you may have before transitioning you into group classes.

  • Absolutely. We have both private and semi-private reformer pilates options available if you do not wish to attend group classes.

  • Hell no! We ensure that everyone is warmly welcomed into the studio, reformer pilates is for everyone and every age.

  • Your workout is our priority. Unfortunately, this doesn’t include child-minding at this time.
